Before starting work the area around the r transmission oil pan (1) must be thoroughly cleaned. Even the smallest dirt particles in the hydraulic components can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the transmission.
In order to avoid damage to the transmission, always observe the various Specifications for Operating Fluids

In the event of a repair the old and new transmission oil pan (1) versions must never
be interchanged when replacing them.
The filling method
and oil-level check
for the transmission are not altered by the change in transmission oil pan (1).
New transmission oil pan (1) version, as of 21.6.2010
The transmission oil pan (1) and the overflow pipe (2) have been redesigned to optimize the oil feed of the transmission.
The new transmission oil pan version (1) is recognizable by its oval forms (see arrows). This transmission oil pan (1) may only be installed with the green
overflow pipe (2).
