Tightening sequence of crankshaft main bearing cap (1a) and the crankshaft bearing cap (2a, 3a, 4a) on engine 276

  1. Tighten crankshaft fitted bearing cap (1a) and crankshaft bearing cap (2a, 3a, 4a, a) individually in numerical sequence.

NOTES Do not use an impact wrench/driver or compressed air tool to screw in the screw/bolts (1 to 6).

The threaded holes are damaged otherwise.

IMPORTANT The arrow points in the direction of travel. If no angle tightener is available at the final tightening stage, the screw/bolts can be turned further using a socket wrench and locking handle all in a single operation. Do not use a bending rod torque wrench for tightening in order to avoid any angular errors.
