Replace rear crankshaft radial sealing ring - AR03.20-P-3063CD

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove flywheel/drive plate ENGINE 651 in MODEL 166, 172, 204, 207, 212 (except 212.098/298), 218, 221 AR03.30-P-8001CD
ENGINE 651.9 in MODEL 212.098/298 AR03.30-P-8001EH
2 Press crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) out of the timing case cover (2) using a suitable screwdriver NOTES
Do not damage the crankshaft and the sealing surface on timing case cover (2).
The leaktightness of the new crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) will not be achieved anymore otherwise.
 
INSPECT Check     
3 Check sealing surface for the crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) on timing case cover (2) for ridging; deburr the sealing surface if necessary    
INSTALLING Install     
4 Push crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) in direction of the arrow onto the insertion tool (3a) NOTES
The crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) and the contact surface on the crankshaft must be free of grease.
Grease prevents the inclined webs on sealing lip transporting back the engine oil.
IMPORTANT The sealing lip (1d) and the protective lip (1s) of the crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) must lay correctly over the whole circumference SPECIAL TOOL the insertion tool (3a).
Place crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) in place again if this is not the case.

5 Place insertion tool (3a) on the crankshaft and tighten down with the two mounting bolts SPECIAL TOOL Insertion tool Fig 3
6 Place insertion tool (3) on the insertion tool (3a) and screw on nut IMPORTANT Align bores in the SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool (3) to the mounting screws in SPECIAL TOOL the insertion tool (3a).

7 Screw on nut further and pull in crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) until the insertion tool (3) lies on the timing case cover (2) NOTES
The crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) must be flush with the timing case cover (2).
There will be no perfect sealing achieved otherwise.
IMPORTANT Ensure that crankshaft radial sealing ring (1) has been pulled in equally over the whole circumference.
 
8 Remove mounting bolts for insertion tool (3a) from the crankshaft and remove insertion tool (3) with insertion tool (3a)    
9 Install flywheel/drive plate ENGINE 651 in MODEL 166, 172, 204, 207, 212 (except 212.098/298), 218, 221 AR03.30-P-8001CD

10 Check engine oil level, correct if necessary NOTES
The engine oil level must lie between "Min" and "Max".
Engine damage can occur otherwise.
 
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
11 Check for oil leaks with engine running
