Install and gauge connecting rod bearings - AR03.10-P-6111-06MM
ENGINE 152, 157, 276, 278
ENGINE 157
- Assign connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) to the cylinder.
When reusing the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b), these must be installed on the same cylinder and in the same direction.
When replacing the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) only certain color combinations from the upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) and lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a) are installed on the respective connecting rod. To do this observe the possible combination options of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) are listed below.
- Wet connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) with engine oil.
- Insert connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) in the respective connecting rod (2) or respective connecting rod bearing cap (1).
One must ensure that the anti-twist locks (b, d) of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) lie on the respective inner edges of the grooves (a, c).
The connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) do not sit in the middle otherwise and it can come to engine damage.
The anti-twist locks (b, d) of the connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b) must be located in the grooves (a, c) in the connecting rod (2) and the connecting rod bearing cap (1).
Combination options for the lower and upper connecting rod bearing shells (4a, 4b)
Only the following color combinations should be installed. There is no cylinder assignment. The color coding is attached to the side on the connecting rod bearing shell (4a, 4b).
- An upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) yellow requires a lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a) yellow
- An upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) blue requires a lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a) red
- An upper connecting rod bearing shell (4b) red requires a lower connecting rod bearing shell (4a) blue
- Wet connecting rod bolts with engine oil.
- Place connecting rod bearing cap (1) on the respective connecting rod (2) and screw in connecting rod bolts by hand.
Connecting rods have been cracked (broken) during manufacture. The connecting rod bearing caps (1) are not interchangeable and cannot be fitted laterally reversed. Ensure correct assignment and installation position on the basis of the attached markings.
