Gear indicator in instrument cluster in Sport "S" transmission mode and Economy "E" transmission mode

It shows the driver the currently selected shift range "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6" or selector lever position "D, R, N, P".

It shows the driver whether the Sport "S" or Economy "E" mode has been selected using the A/T transmission mode button (S16/12).

The information with regard to the selected transmission mode, gear range and shift range are sent to the instrument cluster over the drive train CAN (CAN C) by the fully integrated transmission control unit (Y3/8n4).

4 different functions can be selected using the DIRECT SELECT lever (S16/13), and 2 different transmission modes can be selected using the A/T transmission mode button.

Selector lever positions

"P" Park pawl and start position

"R" Reverse gear

"N" Neutral and start position

(no power transmission, vehicle can move freely)

"D" Drive (all 7 forward gears are available)

Upshifting and downshifting

The shift range is extended and reduced using the steering wheel upshift button (S111/1) and the steering wheel downshift button (S110/1).

Press + : The shift range is extended by one gear stage for a single operation for both transmission mode "E" and transmission mode "S".

Press and hold: Direct change to gear range "D".

Press - : A single press limits the shift range (reduced by one gear stage for each press).

Press and hold:The transmission changes into a shift range from which the vehicle can be easily accelerated or decelerated.

If the shift range is restricted, upshifts occur close to the engine cutoff speed.

A/T transmission mode button

The following transmission modes can be selected:

Economy transmission mode "E"

Driving off in 1st gear for all driving situations.

The gear change takes place at a lower transmission input speed.

At kickdown the upshifts and downshifts are as in the Sport ("S") transmission mode.

Sport transmission mode "S"

Starting off in 1st gear for all driving situations.

The gear change takes place at a higher transmission input speed, to convey a more sporty driving feel, and to enable better acceleration.
