Rivet timing chain - AR05.10-P-7601-02MM

IMPORTANT The following tooling is required to rivet the timing chain: SPECIAL TOOL case, SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool SPECIAL TOOL and assembly insert.

IMPORTANT When carrying out work on the timing case recess, safeguard this with a clean rag to prevent items dropping down. Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess, must be removed.

Insert riveted link in the timing chain 

  1. Insert riveted link with both middle plates in the ends of the timing chain.

    IMPORTANT Insert riveted link from the rear.

  2. Push in insert riveted link all the way into the timing chain.

    Press outer plate onto riveted link 

  3. SPECIAL TOOL Place assembly insert (F14) in the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (01) and fix in place with the screw/bolt.
  4. SPECIAL TOOL Place assembly insert (D15) in the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (01).

  5. Insert the outer plate (3) into the SPECIAL TOOL assembly insert (D15).

    IMPORTANT The outer plate (3) is held magnetically.

  6. SPECIAL TOOL Place rivet press tool (01) in such away that the spacer bushing of the SPECIAL TOOL assembly insert (F14) lies on the timing chain (4).

    IMPORTANT Ensure that riveted link and the outer plate (3) are aligned.

  7. Screw in thrust spindle (02) on the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (01) until there is firm resistance.

    IMPORTANT When turning the thrust spindle (02) ensure that the pins of the riveted link are pushed into the bores of the outer plate (3).

  8. SPECIAL TOOL Take off rivet press tool (01).

  9. SPECIAL TOOL Turn over assembly insert (D15) to the riveting section (arrow).

  10. SPECIAL TOOL Place rivet press tool (01) in the middle on a rivet link bolt.

    IMPORTANT Rivet pins for the riveted link individually.

  11. Tighten thrust spindle (02) on the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool (01).
  12. SPECIAL TOOL Take off rivet press tool (01).

    Check 

  13. Check riveting (arrows), re-rivet if necessary.
