ENGINE 157 Engines with INA timing chain
The following tooling is required to rivet the timing chain:
case,
rivet press tool
and assembly insert.
When carrying out work on the timing case recess, safeguard this with a clean rag to prevent items dropping down. Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess, must be removed.
Insert riveted link in the timing chain
- Insert riveted link with both middle plates in the ends of the timing chain.
Insert riveted link from the rear.
- Push in insert riveted link all the way into the timing chain.
Press outer plate onto riveted link
Place assembly insert (F14) in the
rivet press tool (01) and fix in place with the screw/bolt.
Place assembly insert (D15) in the
rivet press tool (01).
- Insert the outer plate (3) into the
assembly insert (D15).
The outer plate (3) is held magnetically.
Place rivet press tool (01) in such away that the spacer bushing of the
assembly insert (F14) lies on the timing chain (4).
Ensure that riveted link and the outer plate (3) are aligned.
- Screw in thrust spindle (02) on the
rivet press tool (01) until there is firm resistance.
When turning the thrust spindle (02) ensure that the pins of the riveted link are pushed into the bores of the outer plate (3).
Take off rivet press tool (01).
Rivet timing chain
Turn over assembly insert (D15) to the riveting section (arrow).
Place rivet press tool (01) in the middle on a rivet link bolt.
Rivet pins for the riveted link individually.
- Tighten thrust spindle (02) on the
rivet press tool (01).
Take off rivet press tool (01).
Check
- Check riveting (arrows), re-rivet if necessary.
