ENGINE 272, 273 Basic position of the camshafts with the front covers removed, cylinder head at 40° Crank angle after TDC

- Crank the engine at the crankshaft in Turn the direction of engine rotation (arrow) to 40° crank angle after ignition TDC.
The 40° marking (1) on the belt pulley must be aligned with the positioning edge (2) on the timing case cover.
The markings (3) on the camshaft adjusters face upward, and the markings (4) align with the contact surfaces on the cylinder head covers.
