IMPORTANT To separate the timing chain (10) the following tooling from the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool is required: basic carrier (1G), mount C1 (2) and thrust piece C2 (3).

  1. Mount grab handle (1H) in a suitable threaded hole on basic carrier (1G).

IMPORTANT For assembly of the grab handle (1H) one must ensure that the grab handle (1H) for separating the timing chain (10) does not touch the components and therefore damage can occur.

  2. Cover over timing case slot with a clean rag.

IMPORTANT The timing case recess must be secured against parts which are falling down. Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess, must be removed.

  3. Insert mount C1 (2) in basic carrier (1G) and insert thrust piece C2 (3) in thrust spindle (1D) of the basic carrier (1G).

IMPORTANT Ensure correct seating of the mount C1 (2) in basic carrier (1G) and the thrust piece C2 (3) in the thrust spindle (1D) of the basic carrier (1G).

  4. Insert timing chain (10) in SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool, in doing so ensure correct position of the timing chain (10) in the mount C1 (2) of the SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool.
  5. Through actuation of the thrust spindle (1D) lay the thrust piece C2 (3) on the timing chain (10).

IMPORTANT Ensure that the thrust piece C2 (3) touches the clinch bolt of a timing chain link.

  6. Through actuation of the thrust spindle (1D) screw in the thrust piece C2 (3) and disconnect the timing chain (10) through pressing out the clinch bolt.

IMPORTANT Do not allow the pushed out clinch bolt of the timing chain (10) to fall into the control case shaft.

  7. Remove thrust spindle (1D) with the inserted thrust piece C2 (3) and take off SPECIAL TOOL rivet press tool.

IMPORTANT When removing the thrust piece C2 (3) ensure that the timing chain (10) does not fall into the control case shaft.
