The following special tools are needed: case, chain breaker tool, thrust spindle, pressure pin and hold-down tool

1. Assemble chain breaker tool (5) and thrust spindle (2).
2. Insert pressure pin (1) in thrust spindle (2) and tighten union nut (3).
3. Screw the thrust spindle (2) into pilot bushing (4).

   The pressure pin (1) must not project into beveled tapered area of pilot bushing (4).

4. Screw pilot bushing (4) into chain breaker tool (5).

5. Attach hold-down tool (7) to right cylinder head.

   Ensure correct seating.

6. Cover timing case recess and cylinder head with shop towels.

   When carrying out work on timing case recess or on cylinder head, protect this with a clean rags to prevent small items dropping down.

   Parts which have fallen into the timing case recess or the cylinder head must be removed, otherwise engine damage can occur.

7. Fit chain breaker tool (5) onto timing chain (6) on the right intake camshaft sprocket.

   Ensure when putting on the thrust spindle (2) that the pressure pin (1) fits closely at the chain link pin to be separated.

   The chain link will be damaged otherwise.

8. Screw in thrust spindle (2) and separate timing chain (6).

   Do not allow pin which is pushed out to drop into crankcase.

   Parts which have fallen into the crankcase must be removed to avoid engine damage.

9. Remove thrust spindle (2) and remove chain breaker tool (5).
10. Carefully remove the pressed out pin from chain breaker tool (5).
