  Preparatory activity     
1 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position MODEL 164, 166, 171, 172, 197.3/4, 203, 204, 207, 209, 211, 212, 216, 218, 219, 221, 230, 231, 251  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR MODEL 204.3, 207, 212
IMPORTANT MODEL 204.3, 207, 212
with CODE U60 (Active Bonnet (Pedestrian protection))
Move engine hood to vertical position: 
Remove left and right clamping lever at top on left and right hinge.		 AR88.40-P-1000EW
2 Remove covering on brake unit MODEL 197.3/4
with CODE B14 (Carbon-fiber engine compartment cover)		  
INSPECT Check     
3 Check that visible systems and components in engine compartment are in good condition, are not leaking and are attached securely IMPORTANT
  • Engine and bolted-on major assemblies and exhaust system
  • Hybrid components (equipment specific)
  • Cooling system
  • Heater and air conditioning system
  • Fuel system
  • Steering
  • Brake system

If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.		  
4 Check that visible lines and hoses in engine compartment are in good condition, are not leaking, are routed correctly and are attached securely IMPORTANT
  • Engine and bolted-on major assemblies and exhaust system
  • Hybrid components (equipment specific)
  • _Cooling system
  • Heater and air conditioning system
  • Fuel system
  • Steering
  • Brake system
  • Clutch operating system
  • Electrical components

If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.		  
5 Check visible systems, components and body panels, lines and hoses in engine compartment on vehicle for damage, routing, leaks, mounting and corrosion   AP00.20-P-0054EW
