Install spoiler on front bumper - AZ88.20-P-0010-02EW

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 33 other vehicles, including the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E63 S AMG, 2016 Mercedes-Benz E400, 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350, 2016 Mercedes-Benz E300, and 2016 Mercedes-Benz E250. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

MODEL 212.0 (except 212.074/077) up to 4/13/13, 212.2 (except 212.274/277) up to 4/13/13 up to model year 2014 without CODE 950 (AMG sport package) 

The following steps are shown on MODEL 212.0 with CODE 954 (Avantgarde) 

  1. Clean bonding surfaces on bumper.

    IMPORTANT The area to be glued must be free of dust and grease.

  2. Remove pin on expansion rivets (2 and 3) from bumper.

    IMPORTANT Helper required to assemble front spoiler (1).

  3. Install front spoiler (1) on bumper, center and mark position with adhesive tape (4).

    IMPORTANT Ensure that the distance to the outside sides is the same on left and right.

  4. Only on vehicles without CODE 954 (Avantgarde) Check position of front spoiler (1) with gauge included in installation kit.

  5. Mark position of front spoiler (1) as shown on bumper.

  6. Cut adhesive tape (4) with knife in gap between front spoiler (1) and bumper.

    NOTES Do not damage paint layer on bumper or front spoiler (1).

    Otherwise the paint can peel off.

  7. Remove front spoiler (1).

    1. (8.1)  Slide sheet metal nuts (6) onto retaining clamps (5.1) (arrows).

      On vehicles up to approx. 31.8.2009.

      On vehicles as of approx. 1.9.2009.

      IMPORTANT Four sheet metal nuts (6) and four retaining clamps (5.1) are included in the part kit.

    2. (8.2)  Slide sheet metal nuts (6) onto retaining clamps (5.1 and 5.2) (arrows).

      IMPORTANT Four sheet metal nuts (6), two retaining clips (5.1) and two retaining clips (5.2) are included in the parts kit.

    • (9.1)  Slide retaining clamps (5.1) onto bumper to previously marked positions.

      On vehicles up to approx. 31.8.2009.

      On vehicles as of approx. 1.9.2009.

    • (9.2)  Slide retaining clips (5.1 and 5.2) onto bumper to previously marked positions.

      IMPORTANT Use retaining clips (5.2) at the two center positions.

  8. Remove protective foils (8) on side adhesive strips from front spoiler (1).
  9. Slightly remove protective foils (7) from adhesive strips on front spoiler (1) at ends and bend 45° in direction of outer edge.

    IMPORTANT If necessary, fix bent protective foils (7) in place on outside of front spoiler (1) with adhesive tape.

  10. Place front spoiler (1) on bumper and align to previously attached adhesive tape (4).
  11. Remove protective foil starting at center to both sides in increments of 15 to 20 cm and firmly press on front spoiler (1).

    NOTES When pressing on, press directly on adhesive strips on front spoiler (1). Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.

    IMPORTANT The maximum adhesive force is reached after approx. 72 hours at 20 °C. Avoid any contact with moisture (e.g. rain, fog, carwash) within the first 24 hours. Prevent any mechanical stress.

    IMPORTANT Do not remove protective foil all at once. To increase processing reliability when installing front spoiler (1), conclude by pressing front spoiler (1) down on bumper using clean cotton rag, starting at one side.

  12. Remove adhesive tape (4).

  13. Only on vehicles without CODE 954 (Avantgarde) Check position of front spoiler (1) with gauge included in installation kit.

  14. Tighten front spoiler with bolts (9) included in installation kit.
