Converting rear bumper - AZ88.00-P-0001-03ESA

MODEL 212.2 as of model year 2014 (facelift) 

IMPORTANT Check components removed from standard bumper before assembly and replace if damaged.

NOTES Carefully lay down painted vehicle parts. In order to prevent damage.

  1. Position lower rear bumper paneling (2) into upper rear bumper paneling (1) and arrest.

    IMPORTANT The lower rear bumper paneling (2) should arrest properly into the upper rear bumper paneling (1).

  3. Rivet lower rear bumper paneling (2) to upper rear bumper paneling (1) on right and left with 1 pressed lug rivet (3) each.

  5. Clip chrome trim strip (4) into lower rear bumper paneling (2) from center toward outside.

  7. Hook check strap (5) on towing eye cover (6) into lower rear bumper paneling (2).

  9. Insert towing eye cover (6) into lower rear bumper paneling (2) and arrest.

    IMPORTANT The towing eye cover (6) should arrest correctly in the lower rear bumper paneling (2).

  11. Install bracket for tank outlet hose (9) on wheel flange of upper rear bumper paneling (1).

  13. Arrest outer right rear parking system distance sensor (B8/7), inner right rear parking system distance (B8/8), center right rear parking system distance (B8/12), center left rear parking system distance (B8/11), inner left rear parking system distance (B8/9) and outer left rear parking system distance (B8/10) in upper rear bumper paneling (1).

    IMPORTANT On outer right rear parking system distance (B8/7) and outer left rear parking system distance (B8/10) use distance sensors with part number A 000 905 12 02. On all others use spacer sensors with part number A 000 905 93 00.

    IMPORTANT Previously check whether a decoupling ring (transparent silicon ring) is installed on the parking distance sensors.

  15. Insert upper basic carrier (10) into rear bumper paneling (1) and arrest.

    IMPORTANT The upper basic carrier (10) should arrest properly in the upper rear bumper paneling (1).

  17. Install 1 bolt (11) each on right and left in direction of arrow to arrest upper basic carrier (10) and provide with 1 sealing washer (12) each.

  19. Position matting (7) on right and left in upper rear bumper paneling (1) and glue in.

  21. Insert left rear bumper radar sensor (B29/6) and right rear bumper radar sensor (B29/7) into present bracket on upper rear bumper paneling (1) and secure with 1 retaining bracket (13) each.

    IMPORTANT The retaining bracket (13) should arrest properly in the upper rear bumper paneling (1).

  22. Insert bracket (8) for center rear bumper radar sensor (B29/10) and arrest with upper basic carrier (10).
  23. Insert center rear bumper radar sensor (B29/10) into bracket (8) and secure with 1 retaining bracket (14).

    IMPORTANT The retaining bracket (14) should arrest properly in the bracket (8).

  25. Insert electrical wiring harness (15) into upper basic carrier (10) and upper rear bumper paneling (1) and fasten at intended points (see circles).
  26. Connect rear parking system distance sensors and rear bumper radar sensors.

  28. Depending on equipment, screw wheel well extension (16) on right and left to upper rear bumper paneling (1) with 2 bolts (17) each.

  30. Insert wheel arch panel (18) on right and left into upper rear bumper paneling (1) and rivet with 1 pressed lug rivet (3) each.
  31. Provide wheel arch panel (18) on right and left with 1 insert clip nut (19) each.

  33. Insert bracket (29) on right and left into upper rear bumper paneling (1) and rivet with 1 pressed lug rivet (3) each.

  35. Insert bottom center rear bracket (20) into bottom rear bumper paneling (2) and arrest.

    IMPORTANT The bottom center rear bracket (20) should arrest properly in the bottom rear bumper paneling (2).

  36. Provide bottom center rear bracket (20) on right and left with 1 insert clip nut (19) each.

  38. Clip 2 plastic nuts (21) into exhaust tip bracket (22) on right and left.

  40. Insert exhaust tip (23) into exhaust tip bracket (22) on right and left and arrest.

    IMPORTANT The catch hooks on the exhaust tips (23) should arrest properly in the exhaust tip bracket (22) (see circles).

  42. Insert exhaust tip bracket (22) with preattached exhaust tip (23) on right and left into bottom rear bumper paneling (2) and arrest.

  44. Screw exhaust tips (23) to exhaust tip bracket (22) with 2 bolts (24) each.

  46. Rivet exhaust tip bracket (22) on right and left to bottom rear bumper paneling (2) and bottom center bracket (20) with 4 pressed lug rivets (3) each.

    IMPORTANT Always maintain sequence a-b-c-d when riveting.

    IMPORTANT Rivet pressed lug rivet (3) from outside at position (d).

  48. Insert antenna with white line (25) and antenna with black line (26) in sensor system bracket (27) and arrest.

  50. Insert rear switching module control unit (28) into sensor system bracket (27) and arrest.
  51. Connect electrical lines to rear switching module control unit (28).

    IMPORTANT The connectors should be locked properly to the rear switching module control unit (28).

  52. Insert sensor system bracket (27) into bottom center bracket (20) and arrest.

  54. Insert impact absorber (30) into upper rear bumper paneling (1) and arrest.

    IMPORTANT Ensure that impact absorber (30) is seated properly in retaining lugs on upper basic carrier (10).
