Location 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit is located in the trunk at the left under the trim on the sidewall.

Signals are read in via the following connection:

• FM station lists from audio equipment
• FM signals from audio equipment (as of 01.07.2011 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)); as of 01.06.2012 also with CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or with CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio))

• Wake-up for MOST
• DAB L-band signals (digital radio) from the multifunction antenna (A28/11) via coaxial cable (up to 28.02.2011)
• DAB band III signals via the FM 2 and DAB antenna amplifier (A2/19) from the rear window antenna (A2/32)

Decoding of signals 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit decodes the DAB L-band signals (up to 28.02.2011) and DAB band III signals into PCM signals (Pulse Code Modulation).

Transmitting signals 

The Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit transmits signals via the MOST:

• DAB status and station lists to the audio equipment
• Audio signals to the audio equipment (except CODE 810 (Sound system) and except CODE 811 (Advanced sound system)) or to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3) (with code 810 (Sound system) or with CODE 811 (Advanced sound system))

Body 

In vehicles as of 01.07.2011 with CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or with CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation)) and in all vehicles as 01.06.2012, the Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit is designed in the form of a twin tuner and supports the extended audio codec DAB+ and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) audio.
