Partially remove rear longitudinal member - AR64.20-P-1260-01EW

MODEL 212.0/1/2, 218.3 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 212.0 and must be performed analogously on the right side in the event of damage.

  1. Expose and cut out spot welds at rear longitudinal member (1) and at rear locking lug (2) (areas A and B).

    IMPORTANT Mill off spot weld through two sheet metal thicknesses (arrow).

  2. Expose and cut out spot welds at rear longitudinal member (1) and at rear locking lug (2) (areas C and D).

    IMPORTANT Model 212.041

    Area C is may or not be present depending on the version.

    IMPORTANT Cut out spot welds through two sheet metal thicknesses (arrows).

    IMPORTANT Area C is may or not be present depending on the version.

    IMPORTANT Body is bonded.

  3. Heat rear longitudinal member (1) in crosshatched area.
  4. Remove damaged rear longitudinal member (1) with rear end part (2).

  5. Grind mating surfaces on body down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  7. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
