Remove/install pedal assembly - AR29.10-P-0300EW

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
NOTES Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts   AH00.00-N-0001-01A
NOTES Brake fluid notes   AH42.50-P-0001-01A
1 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position MODEL 212, 218  
    MODEL 212 AR88.40-P-1000EW
2 Extract brake fluid from expansion reservoir MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716
IMPORTANT Extract the brake fluid until the fluid level reaches the feed hose connection on the expansion reservoir.
 
3 Detach feed hose from brake fluid expansion reservoir MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716  
    MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716 AR25.20-P-0100-01V
4 Remove left cover below dashboard    
5 Detach electrical connector (10) and remove cover (11) MODEL 212, 218 with TRANSMISSION 722  
6 Release and disconnect electrical connectors on brake pressure simulator pressure sensor (B18/5), pedal angle sensor (B37/1), brake light switch (S9/1) and brake pressure simulator valve (Y113) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724
IMPORTANT If the brake pressure simulator valve pressure sensor (B18/5), pedal angle sensor (B37/1) or brake pressure simulator (Y113) is defective, the complete pedal assembly (8) must be replaced.
 
7 Cut cable tie (12) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace cable tie (12).
 
8.1 Unscrew safety screw (4) and remove brake pedal from clevis (4) MODEL 212, 218 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716, 722  
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace safety screw (4b).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake booster to brake pedal *BA43.10-P-1002-01J 
8.2 Remove pin (9) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace pin (9).
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Brake pedal guide pin *BA29.10-P-1003-02G 
9 Unscrew nuts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, pedal assembly to firewall *BA29.10-P-1001-02G 
10 Pull out securing clamp (6a) and remove hydraulic line (6b) from master cylinder (6) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716
NOTES Avoid soiling caused by brake fluid in the interior compartment.
Parts in the interior compartment can otherwise be damaged.
IMPORTANT Seal hydraulic line (6b) with stop plugs.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
11 Disconnect electrical connector (7) on clutch pedal switch (S40/3) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716  
12 Take out pedal assembly (8)    
13 Remove master cylinder (6) from pedal assembly (8). MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716
When replacing the pedal assembly (8).

14 Remove brake light switch (S9/1) MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724.2
When replacing the pedal assembly (8).
 
15 Install in the reverse order    
16 Bleed clutch operating system MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716  
MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716 -
17 Check master cylinder (6) for proper operation and leaktightness MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 711, 716  
18 Teach in pedal angle sensor (B371) using Star Diagnosis MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724
When replacing the pedal assembly (8).
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   MODEL 212 with TRANSMISSION 724 AD00.00-P-2000-04A
