Disconnect engine wiring harness - AR01.00-P-2410-02ELB

- Remove air duct (2); unclip clamping springs (1) to do this.
- Detach ground line (3) from on-board electrical system battery (G1) and place to one side.
Insulate connecting point for ground line (3) to avoid unintended contact of detached ground line (3) with the on-board electrical system battery (G1) ground point.
Only perform operation steps 3 to 23 for removal of the engine.
- Detach cap (4) for positive battery terminal (5) from on-board electrical system battery (G1).
- Detach protective cap (6a) from positive line (6).
- Detach positive line (6) from positive terminal clamp (7).
- Detach positive terminal clamp (7) from positive battery terminal (5) at the on-board electrical system battery (G1).
- Detach electrical connection (8) from positive terminal clamp (7).
- Detach weatherstrip (9) from suspension strut tower and center section of the bulkhead (78) and remove.
- Unclip electrical line (11) from retaining clamp (12).
- Unclip electrical line (11) from center section of the bulkhead (78).
- Unclip bracket (17) for the electrical line (11) on center section of the bulkhead (78) and lay aside electrical line (11) on the engine.
- Detach electrical line (13) for alternator on prefuse box at the front (F32) and lay on the engine.
- Remove upper engine cover.
- Detach electrical lines (14, 15) on ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10).
- Disconnect electrical line (16) at the electrical connection on engine.
- Lay electrical lines (15, 16) to the side in the engine compartment.

- (17.1) Vehicles with 4MATIC: detach ground line on suspension strut tower.
- (17.2) Vehicles without 4MATIC: detach ground line (33) on transmission (36).
- Disconnect electrical line (32) from intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80).
- Detach electrical connector (34) on electric transmission oil pump (M42).
- Detach shield (35) from transmission (36) and disconnect electrical connection on electric controller unit.
- Unclip electrical line (32) on transmission (36) and set aside.
- Disconnect electrical line (37) on electric power steering for actuator motor(A91m1).
- Unclip electrical line (32) on front axle carrier and lay outside the working area.
- Unclip electrical connector for left oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/3x1), right oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter (G3/4x1), left oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/5x1) and right oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (G3/6x1) from the retaining clamps on transmission and disconnect.
- Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/6) or RH intake camshaft solenoid (Y49/5) and on RH exhaust camshaft solenoid (Y49/7).
- Disconnect electrical connections on LH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/4) and on LH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/6) or RH intake camshaft Hall sensor (B6/5) and on LH exhaust camshaft Hall sensor (B6/7).
- Disconnect electrical connectors at the ignition coils (T1).
- Disconnect electrical connectors to fuel injectors (Y76).
- Detach ground line (24) from cylinder head cover.
When removing the right cylinder head cover or right rail.
- Disconnect connector on fuel pressure and temperature sensor (B4/25).
When removing the right cylinder head cover or right rail.
- Detach engine wiring harness (21) on the rail.
Ensure correct seating of the retaining clips (23) on the rail.
- Detach guide rail (25) for engine wiring harness (21) on the cylinder head cover and the intake manifold.
- Lay engine wiring harness (21) aside.
Only perform operation steps 25 to 33 for removal of cylinder head covers or rails.
