Check and adjust center steering position on steering gear - AR46.20-P-3015P

MODEL 169, 171, 172, 203, 204, 209, 211, 230, 245 rack-and-pinion steering removed 

MODEL 207, 212 rack-and-pinion steering removed, with hydraulic power steering

INSPECT Checking     
1 Mount the inner tie rod with axial joint IMPORTANT Only screw in finger-tight on the left and right side.  
2 Turn steering gear on input shaft once to left and once to right up to the end stop    
3 Adjust the steering gear to the marking (5) and marking (6) NOTES Marking (5) must line up exactly with marking (6). Otherwise the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) may malfunction.  
4 Detach inner tie rod with axial joint on both sides    
5 Use a depth gauge to compare the distances from the end of the gear rack to the stop ring (16) in the steer jacket (14) on both sides Model 169, 171, 172, 203, 204, 209, 211, 230, 245, 212 with hydraulic steering, 207 with hydraulic steering.
NOTES If the distances are not the same, the protective cap (4) must be mounted again. Otherwise the Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) may malfunction.
 
Remove/install protective cap for input shaft on steering gear AR46.20-P-0004P
