Measure dimensions a and b from Y-markings (arrows).
Scribe separation point for crimping pliers offset approx. 10 mm from area E.

Transfer separation point from new part only if inner C-pillar is also damaged (area E2 ).

Separate rear fender (1) from separation point (area E).
- Scribe separation point on rear fender (1) (area D).
Transfer separation point from new part (area D).
- Separate rear fender (1) from separation point (area D).
Do not damage side longitudinal member below (area D).
- Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) (areas A, A1 , B, B1 , B2 and C).
- Cut out spot welds on rear fender (1) (areas A, A1 , B, B1 , B2 and C).
- Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) (areas F, G, H, H1 , I, J, K and L).
- Cut out spot welds on rear fender (1) (areas F, G, H, H1
, I, J, K and L).
Drill spot weld on rear fender (1) through two pane thicknesses (area K).
- Cut rear fender (1) at separation point with FSC 1.6 window removal tool (area M).
Rear fender (1) is bonded to outer rear wheel well in area M. Window glazing device, FSC 1.6
- Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged rear fender (1)
- Remove remaining adhesive from outer rear wheel well (area M).
A maximum of 2 mm of adhesive residue may be left Pull off loose adhesive material (remaining pieces which are not completely cut off).
- Repair bare parts with touchup applicator.
- Sand connection surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Grind lock striker bracket (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (area N 1).
Remove lock striker bracket (2) only when replacing inner C-pillar
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Crimp connecting flange on rear fender (1) with crimping pliers toward inside (area E).
Use sheet metal crimping pliers for heavily accessible areas.
Beading pliers
Perform following steps 19, 20, 21 only when replacing inner C-pillar.
- Cut out lock striker bracket (2) from C-pillar side wall (area N).
- Heat lock striker bracket (2) in crosshatched area.
Cross-hatched area is bonded.
