Separate rear fender - AR63.50-P-1400-02ES

In principle replacement parts required for this repair can be replaced completely. Ensure that the standard joining and bonding connections are observed or are coordinated with the responsible Daimler departments in individual cases. On cut panels also ensure that the joints to the present paneling are accessible for later cavity preservation and that the minimum distance between foam-protected areas and connection points is approx. 100 mm.
- Position metal needle templates or flexible measuring tape at Y-markings (arrows) and scribe separation line at rear fender (1) and cut (areas E and F).
Do not damage components below.
- Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas G, H, I and J).
- Scribe separation point on rear fender (1) (area D).
Transfer separation point from new part (area D).
- Separate rear fender (1) from separation point (area D).
Do not damage side longitudinal member below (area D).
- Expose spot welds on rear fender (1) and cut out (areas A, A1 , B, B1 , B2 and C).
- Cut rear fender (1) at separation point with FSC 1.6 window removal tool (area K).
Rear fender (1) is bonded to outer rear wheel well in area K. Window glazing device, FSC 1.6
- Heat rear fender (1) in crosshatched areas.
Crosshatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged rear fender (1)
- Remove remaining adhesive from outer rear wheel well (area L).
A maximum of 2 mm of adhesive residue may be left Pull off loose adhesive material (remaining pieces which are not completely cut off).
- Repair bare parts with touchup applicator.
- Sand connection surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Grind lock striker bracket (2) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas (area N1
).
Remove lock striker bracket (2) only when replacing C-pillar.
- Remove drill shavings.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Cut out lock striker bracket (2) on C-pillar (area N).
- Heat lock striker bracket (2) in crosshatched area.
Crosshatched area is bonded.
- Remove lock striker bracket (2) from inner C-pillar
Perform following steps 15, 16, 17 only when replacing C-pillar.
