Separate D-pillar - AR63.20-P-2000-01ES

Dimensions:
In principle replacement parts required for this repair can be replaced completely. Ensure that the standard joining and bonding connections are observed or are coordinated with the responsible Daimler departments in individual cases. On cut panels also ensure that the joints to the present paneling are accessible for later cavity preservation and that the minimum distance between foam-protected areas and connection points is approx. 100 mm.
- Scribe separating point at outer D-pillar (area A and B).
Measure dimension b from separating cut on rear fender (Y-markings). Dimension a from embossing, see Fig 2 on next page.
- Cut outer D-pillar at separating point (area A and B).
Do not damage inner D-pillar below (area B).
- Expose spot welds on outer C-pillar and cut out (areas C and D).
Dimensions:
- Expose spot welds on inner D-pillar and cut out (areas G and F).
- Scribe separating point at inner D-pillar and cut (area E).
- Remove damaged D-pillar.
Measure dimension c from separating cut on rear fender (Y-markings).
- Sand connection surfaces down to bare metal in the cross-hatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove drill shavings.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
