Separate B-pillar - AR63.20-P-1350-05EW
MODEL 212
- Scribe separation points on outer B-pillar (1) (areas A, B, C, D and E).
On vehicles with removed panorama roof, separation line and cut are not required in area A. Completely cut separation points in areas B and C to roof frame connection and cut out resistance spot welds at roof frame connection.
Measure dimensions a, a1 and c for separation points in areas B, C and D on Y-markings. Transfer separation points from new part in area E.
The separation points in areas D and E can be determined according to the degree of damage when removing B-pillar without side longitudinal member (3)
- Cut outer B-pillar (1) at separation points (areas A, B, C, D and E).
Do not damage components below.
On vehicles with removed panorama roof, separation line and cut are not required in area A.
- Expose spot welds on outer B-pillar (1) (areas F, G and H).
- Cut out spot welds on outer B-pillar (1) (areas F, G and H).
- Heat outer B-pillar (1) in crosshatched areas.
Crosshatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged outer B-pillar (1).
- Expose spot welds on inner B-pillar (2) and side longitudinal member (3) (areas J, K, M, N, O, P, Q, R and S).
Expose spot welds in areas Q, R and S only when removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3).
- Cut out welds in an inner B-pillar (2) and side longitudinal member (3) (areas J, K, M, N, O, P, Q, R and S).
When removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3) only cut out spot welds in areas N, O, P, Q, R and S.
When removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3) only cut out spot welds in areas J, K, M, N, O and P
- Scribe separation points at Y-markings (arrows) on side longitudinal member (3) (areas I and L).
Only when removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3).
- Cut side longitudinal member (3) at separation points (areas I and L).
Only when removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3).
Do not damage components below.
- Heat inner B-pillar (2) in crosshatched areas.
Only when removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3) (area Z).
Crosshatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged inner B-pillar (2).
When removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3), remove both components.
- Remove foam part from front upper B-pillar and dispose of.
- Sand down connection surfaces on body to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
When removing inner B-pillar (2) without side longitudinal member (3), observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces in areas T and U.
When removing inner B-pillar (2) with side longitudinal member (3), observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces in areas V, W and X.
- Remove drill shavings.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint.
