Preparing D-pillar for installation - AR63.20-P-2000-02ES

  1. Cut out spot welds on inner D-pillar (area C and D).
  2. Scribe separating point on inner D-pillar (area A and B).
  3. Cut inner D-pillar at separating point (area A and B).
  4. Remove section from inner D-pillar.

    IMPORTANT Transfer dimensions from vehicle.

  5. Grind mating surfaces on inner D-pillar down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  6. Coat insides of spot welding flange on inner D-pillar with zinc dust paint.

  7. Scribe separating point at outer D-pillar (area H).

    IMPORTANT Transfer dimensions from vehicle.

  8. Cut outer D-pillar at separating point (area H).
  9. Remove section from outer D-pillar.
  10. Grind mating surfaces on outer D-pillar and reinforcement down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  11. Coat insides of spot weld flange on outer D-pillar and reinforcement with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES To prevent adhesion problems, do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area I).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
