Cut off A-pillar - AR63.20-P-1100-01EW

- Scribe separating point on A-pillar outer paneling (1) and cut (areas A and B).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise sheet metal panels below can be damaged.
Dimension b = approx. 25 mm
Measure separating point in area A from cutout (arrow). The separating point in area B is the first Y-marking (arrow) starting at the B-pillar in the direction of the vehicle front plus approx. 25 mm.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar outer paneling (1) and cut out (areas C, D, E and F).
- Expose MIG brazed seams on A-pillar outer paneling and A-pillar reinforcement and cut (area B1
).
Do not damage components below.
- Heat A-pillar outer paneling in crosshatched areas.
Crosshatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged A-pillar outer paneling.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut out (areas H, J1 , J2 , O1 and Q2 ).
- Expose MIG brazed seams on A-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area I1 ).
- Bend upper roof frame upward (arrows).
- Scribe separating point on A-pillar reinforcement (2) and cut (area I2
).
Cut a Y-markings (arrows).
- Heat A-pillar reinforcement in crosshatched area.
Crosshatched area is bonded.
- Remove damaged A-pillar reinforcement.
- Scribe at A-pillar inner section (3) and cut (area P).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise sheet metal panels below can be damaged.
Dimensions: c = approx. 130 mm
Reference line is the edge (arrow) of the separating point on the A-pillar reinforcement.
- Expose spot welds on A-pillar inner section (3) and cut out (areas O, Q and R).
- Heat outer A-pillar inner section (3) in crosshatched area.
Crosshatched area is bonded.
- Remove damaged A-pillar inner section (3).
- Sand connection surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides. Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (area H1).
- Remove shavings and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area H1 ). Otherwise adhesion problems can occur.
