Check engine oil level using on-board oil dipstick - AP18.00-P-1811MP

DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
INSPECT Check     
1.1 Warm up the engine until the coolant temperature is at least 80 °C Engine without dry sump lubrication  
1.2 Warm up the engine until the engine oil temperature is >100 °C (oil cooler thermostat open) Dry sump engine  
2 Turn off engine    
3 Pull oil dipstick (4) out of oil measuring pipe (5) and wipe with a lint-free cloth IMPORTANT The oil dipstick (4) and oil measuring pipe (5) can be at the front or rear of the engine (depending on the model series).  
4 Check engine oil level using oil dipstick (4) IMPORTANT Insert oil dipstick (4) into the oil measuring pipe (5) until the end stop and hold in for a duration of at least 3 seconds.
The level should at least be in the center between the Min. (4b) and Max. (4a) marking on the oil dipstick (4).
The oil filling quantity between the Min. (4b) and Max. (4a) marking is approx. 1.0 l.
IMPORTANT Dry sump engine
Check engine oil level approx. 5 min after switching off the engine.
 
  If the engine oil level is too high or too low, correct it

IMPORTANT Check engine oil level again after correcting it. For this, repeat operation steps 3 and 4.
If engine oil level is too low:

Refill engine oil until the level is at least in the center between the Min. (4b) and Max. (4a) marking on the oil dipstick (4).
If engine oil level is too high:

Suction off engine oil until the level is below the Max. (4a) marking, but at least in the center between the Min. (4b) and Max. (4a) marking on the oil dipstick (4).
