Insert set of spacer blocks on undamaged side of roof duct between center roof paneling (1) and side roof paneling and adjust dimension.
So that the center roof paneling (1) can be adapted with the adjusted
set of spacer blocks when installing.
- Mark position on vehicle and dimensions for
set of spacer blocks.
- Expose spot welds at front of center roof paneling (1) (area A).
- Cut out spot welds at front of center roof paneling (1) (area A).
- Expose spot welds at rear of center roof paneling (1) (area B).
- Cut out spot welds at rear of center roof paneling (1) (area B).
- Expose spot welds in left and right roof duct (arrows).
- Drill out spot welds in left and right roof duct with Ø 4.8 mm BTR drill bit (arrows).
Drill 6 holes on each side of vehicle. 4.8 x 70 BTR drill bit
- Heat center roof paneling (1) in crosshatched areas.
Crosshatched areas are bonded.
- Remove damaged center roof paneling (1)
- Remove sealant residues from center roof bow (area C).
- Sand connection surfaces down to bare metal in the crosshatched areas.
Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove drill shavings.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint to prevent adhesion problems (areas C1 and C2 ).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
