Drive Kit Plus connection scheme for smartphones

The following operation steps describe installation in a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

1. Stick felt tape (31) to upper side of Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
2. Stick Velcro strips (32) to underside of Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

   Remove the carrier foil for the Velcro strips (32) just before installation of the Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

3. Connect white 1-pin connector (19) of the gray line to white 1-pin plug (20) of the brown line.

   With CODE 512 (COMAND Online with DVD changer) or CODE 527 (COMAND Online)

4. Disconnect white 4-pin plug (21) from white 4-pin connector (28).

   With CODE 518 (Media Interface)

5. Connect white 4-pin connector (28) to white 4-pin plug (29) of Drive Kit Plus Media Interface adapter line (27).

6. Place Drive Kit Plus control unit (1) into front passenger footwell.
7. Connect black 18-pin connector (5) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
8. Connect head unit low voltage differential signaling wiring harness connector (15.2) of head unit low voltage differential signaling wiring harness (15) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
9. Connect display low voltage differential signaling wiring harness connector (16.2) of display low voltage differential signaling wiring harness (16) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
10. Connect black, angled connection line connector (45) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
11. Connect black data line connector (46) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
12. Connect blue 1-pin GPS antenna connector (18.1) of GPS antenna line (18) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

    With CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)

13. Stick Drive Kit Plus control unit (1) into front passenger footwell at side on transmission tunnel.

    The condensation drain hose (53) must not be touched, kinked or pinched by the Drive Kit Plus control unit (1). Otherwise the condensation drain function can no longer be assured.

14. Form loops with extended lengths of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness, LVDS head unit wiring harness and the LVDS display wiring harness behind the floor covering on the passenger side, and fix in place using cable tie and felt tape.

    Fix data line (42) and connection line (42) of Drive Kit Plus connection wiring harness in place with cable ties after installing glove box (22).
