The following operation steps describe installation in a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles, these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.

1. Stick felt tape (31) to upper side of Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
2. Stick Velcro strips (32) to underside of Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

   Remove the carrier foil for the Velcro strips (32) just before installation of the Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

3. • 3.1)  With CODE 512 (COMAND APS with DVD changer) or CODE 527 (COMAND APS with single DVD drive (with navigation))

     Connect white 2-pin connector (19) of gray line and white 2-pin plug (20) of brown line.

   • 3.2)  With CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio)

     Disconnect white 2-pin connector (19) of gray line and white 2-pin plug (20) of brown line and strap down with felt tape.

4. Except CODE 518 (Media Interface) Connect white 4-pin plug (21) with white 4-pin connector (28).
5. With CODE 518 (Media Interface) Disconnect white 4-pin plug (21) from white 4-pin connector (28) and strap down with felt tape.
6. With CODE 518 (Media Interface) Connect white 4-pin connector (28) to white 4-pin plug (29) of Drive Kit Plus Media Interface adapter line (27).

7. Place Drive Kit Plus control unit (1) into front passenger footwell.
8. Connect black 18-pin connector (5) of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness (3) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
9. Connect head unit LVDS wiring harness connector (15.2) of head unit LVDS wiring harness (15) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
10. Connect display LVDS wiring harness connector (16.2) of display LVDS wiring harness (16) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
11. Connect black, angled connection line connector (45) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).
12. Connect black data line connector (46) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

    Black data line connector (46) must audibly engage into Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

13. With CODE 510 (Audio 20 with CD changer) or CODE 523 (MB Audio 20 radio) or CODE 528 (COMAND incl. DVD changer)

    Connect blue 1-pin GPS antenna connector (18.1) of GPS antenna line (18) to Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

14. Remove carrier foil from Velcro strips and stick Drive Kit Plus control unit (1) into front passenger footwell at side on transmission tunnel.

    The hose (53) must not be touched, kinked or pinched by the Drive Kit Plus control unit (1).

    Otherwise the condensation drain function can no longer be assured.

15. Route loops with extended lengths of Drive Kit Plus adapter wiring harness, LVDS head unit wiring harness and the LVDS display wiring harness behind the floor covering on the passenger side, and fix in place using cable tie and felt tape.

    The data line and the connection line of the Drive Kit Plus connection line set are fixed in place with cable ties after installing the glove compartment (22).
