The following operation steps describe installation in a left-hand drive vehicle. With right-hand drive vehicles, these operation steps must be carried out mirror-inverted.
- Make marks for hole center points for cutout (arrow) at glove compartment (22).
Dimensions:
a = 40 mm
b = 175 mm
c = 187 mm
- Drill two holes with a diameter of 15 mm corresponding to the markings.
- Use file to make an oval-shaped cutout (arrow).
Clarify with the customer whether the iPhone cradle (30) is to be installed.
- Clean underside of iPhone cradle (30).
- Remove carrier foil from Velcro dots (30.1).
- Fix Velcro dots (30.1) onto the underside of iPhone cradle (30).
- Attach felt dots (30.2) to Velcro dots (30.1).
Do not remove the carrier foil of the felt dots (30.2) until just before mounting in the glove compartment. Otherwise there may be adhesion problems.
- Open glove compartment (22).
- Clean inside area (22.1) of glove compartment (22).
- Place connection line (40) and data line (42) into the glove compartment (22) and route outwards through the previously made cutout.
- Install grommet (44) into the previously made cutout.
- Install iPhone cradle (30) in glove compartment (22).
Choose the position of the iPhone cradle (30) so that the connection line (40) and data line (42) are not kinked and the cutout for the iPhone connector (45) is located in the area of the iPhone cradle (30) facing the driver side.
- Place glove compartment (22) into front passenger footwell.
Only perform the following operation steps for Drive Kit Plus for the Apple iPhone 5.
- Fold over side floor covering on the passenger side.
- Route data line into front area of front passenger footwell.
- Route connection line (40), starting from the glove compartment (22), behind the air duct (43) to the installation location of the Bluetooth module.
- Route connection line (41), starting from the front passenger footwell, behind the air duct (43) to the installation location of the Bluetooth module.
The black 4-pin connector (40.1) and the white 4-pin connector (41.1) are connected at a later stage to the Bluetooth module, and they are to be positioned between the air duct (43) and the center console. The data line is connected to the Drive Kit Plus control unit at a later stage.
