Inspect wiper blade - AP82.30-P-8253G

DANGER Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
  Preparatory tasks     
1 Close engine hood or liftgate or rear-end door    
2 Switch on ignition Vehicles on which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down far enough from the windshield.  
3 Switch on windshield wiper for front window Vehicles on which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down far enough from the windshield.  
4.1 Switch off ignition On vehicles without code 889 (KEYLESS-GO) Vehicles on which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down far enough from the windshield.
NOTES Do not switch on the ignition when the wiper arms (1) on the windshield or rear window are folded out.
Otherwise damage may occur.
NOTES Model 172 Switch off ignition as soon as the wiper arms (1) are approx. 150 mm (5.90 inches) in front of the upper reversal point. Otherwise damage may occur.
IMPORTANT Except model 172
Switch ignition off as soon as the wiper arms (1) reach top reversal point.
 
4.2 Remove transmitter key or KEYLESS-GO stop/start button from the electronic ignition lock control unit On vehicles with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO) Vehicles on which the wiper arms (1) cannot be folded down far enough from the windshield.
NOTES Do not switch on the ignition when the wiper arms (1) on the windshield or rear window are folded out.
Otherwise damage may occur.
IMPORTANT Remove KEYLESS-GO chip card or transmitter key from vehicle and store beyond the range of the transmitter (at least 2 m (78.74 inches).
 
5 Fold out wiper arms (1) of windshield or rear window NOTES Secure wiper arms (1) against folding back in an uncontrolled manner onto the windshield or the rear window, and fold wiper arms (1) only with wiper blades (2) fitted onto the windshield or the rear window.
Otherwise damage may occur.
 
INSPECT Check     
6 Check maintenance indicator of wiper blades (2) Wiper blades (2) with maintenance indicator.
If the protective foil is still on the maintenance indicator.

Remove protective foil.
If the maintenance indicator is yellow:

Install new wiper blades (2), subject to a separate repair order.
 
7 Check wiper blades (2) for correct mounting and damage If there are problems:

Install new wiper blades (2), subject to a separate repair order.
 
8.1 Check the rubber lip (2a) of version "A" for hardening, cracks and wear and that it is correctly seated in the guides On vehicles with version "A".
If there are problems:

Install new wiper blades (2), subject to a separate repair order.
 
8.2 Check the rubber lip (2a) of version "B" for hardening, cracks and wear and that it is correctly seated in the guides and check end caps On vehicles with version "B".
If there are problems:

Replace rubber lips (2a) or complete wiper blade (2) subject to separate repair order.

9 Put the vehicle back in its initial state
