Operating instructions
Via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) various menu levels can be shown in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1):
- It is possible to scroll in the main menu via the system selection button (S110s3).
- It is possible to scroll within a menu in the submenus or in lists using the scroll forward and back button (S110s1).
- The "Back" and voice control system off button (S110s4) can be used in a menu or submenu to jump into the next higher menu level.
- The OK button (S110s6) is used to confirm the respective selection or pending messages.
All the buttons of the multifunction steering wheel button group are always installed. However the available functions depend on the equipment of the vehicle.

"Trip" menu
The following functions can be selected in the "Trip" menu:
- Reset standard display or trip odometer
- Display digital speedometer
- Display digital speedometer with gearshift recommendation (with manual transmission)
- Show range and current consumption display (except model 212.074/274)
- Show or reset trip computer "After reset"
- Show or reset trip computer "After start"
- "ECO Score" (driving style analysis) display (except model 212.074/095/098/274/298, except engine 271, 272, 642 with code (M014) Uprated engine, except engine 651 without code (B03) ECO start/stop function)
- Power flow display (model 212.095/098/298)
- Display gas fill level (in kg) as a bar graph (with engine 274.9 with code (924) Bivalent natural gas drive)
"Navi" menu
Navigation notes are displayed in the "Navi" menu when the function is switched on.
When the function is switched off, the direction of travel is indicated using the cardinal points of the compass, e.g. "Direction of travel NW".
"Audio" menu
The following functions can be selected in the "Audio" menu:
- Select radio station
- Operate CD player/CD changer/DVD changer/DVD audio/MP3
- Operate DVD video
- Operate TV
"Tel" menu
The name of the selected mobile telephone network is shown in the telephone menu when the function is switched on. It is still possible then to scroll through the stored telephone book and select an entry. When the function is switched off the text "Telephone Off" is displayed.
If a telephone is not detected when the function is switched on, the message "Ready for Bluetooth telephony" appears.
"Assist." menu
The following functions can be selected in the "Assist." menu, depending on the equipment installed:
- Assist graphic (status indication of support systems)
- "Traffic Sign Assist" (with code (513) Traffic sign recognition)
- Switch "ESP" to active or passive
- "Steer Assist" ON or OFF (with code (266) Steer Assist)
- Show "distance chart" (with code (233) DISTRONIC PLUS)
- "PreSafe brake" ON or OFF (with code (271) Autonomous brake intervention / pedestrian protection or with code (300) Collision reduction (CMS))
- "Blind Spot Asst." ON or OFF (with code (237) Active Blind Spot Assist)
- Switch "Attention Asst." on/off
- "Lane Keeping Asst." ON or OFF (with code (238) Active Lane Keeping Assist)
The information is still under discussion.
"Service" menu
The following functions can be selected in the Service menu:
- Call up display messages
- Check tire pressure loss warner (without code (475) Tire pressure monitor (premium)) or tire pressure (with code (475) Tire pressure monitor (Premium)) electronically
- Service interval indicator "ASSYST PLUS"
- "Coolant" display (model 212.095/098/298)
"Settings" menu
Changes to the following settings can be made in the "Settings" menu:
- "Instrument cluster"
- Lights
- "Vehicle"
- "Heater" (with code (228) stationary heater)
- "Comfort"
- "Manufacturer default setting"
- "Taxi" (with code (965) Electrical preinstallation for rental vehicle) "Time/date" (without code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer or without code (527) COMAND APS with Single DVD drive (with navigation))
- "Vehicle operating mode" (natural gas/gasoline) (with engine 274.9 with code (924) Bivalent natural gas drive)
"AMG" menu (with transmission 722.931)
Various system information is displayed in the "AMG" menu. The following submenus can be called up:
- "Warm Up" submenu
- "Setup" submenu
- "Racetimer" submenu
Submenus are shown in two display menus. The following information is shown in the upper static display level:
- Vehicle speed
- Gear range engaged (e.g.: "P", "N", "D") or gear (1 to 7)
- Upshift prompt "UP"
An active "UP" upshift request is shown in red. If the "AMG" - submenu is not activated an active upshift request cross fades all information displayed.
The specific information of the individual submenus is shown in the lower dynamic display level.
"Warm Up" submenu
The following information can be displayed in the "Warm up" menu:
- Engine oil temperature (flashing display at T < 80 °C)
- Coolant temperature (display at T < 80 °C)
"Setup" submenu
The following information can be displayed in the "Setup" menu:
- Transmission mode setting "E", "S", "S+" or "M"
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) status ("Sport Handling Mode" or "ESP OFF")
- Suspension setting ("ECONOMY", "SPORT" or "SPORT+")
The "ESP ON" display is hidden after t = 5 s. The "Sport Handling Mode" and "ESP OFF" displays must be acknowledged using the OK button.
The "Set Up" submenu can also be called up by pressing the AMG button (S193/3).
"Racetimer" submenu
Lap times driven as under racing conditions can be stopped in the "Race Timer" submenu.
The following information is displayed:
- Current lap time
- Best lap time
- "Race EVal" submenu:
- Lap display
- Lap times per lap
- Maximum speed reached per lap
- Average speed per lap
- Travel distance per lap
- "Race AllVal" submenu:
- Total lap time
- Maximum speed achieved over all laps
- Overall average speed
- Overall travel distance
The operating instructions for the "RACE START" function are issued via the multifunction display.
The function requirements for the "RACE START" function are:
- Gear range "D" engaged
- Engine oil temperature T < 80 °C
- Doors closed
- Steering wheel in straight-ahead position
The "RACE START" function is activated as follows:
- Depress brake pedal
- Activate "Sport Handling Mode" using AMG ESP Sport Off button (S193/1)
- Turn transmission mode rotary switch (S192) into the "RS" position
- Operate steering wheel upshift button (S111/1)
In the multifunction display the text message "RACE START available - press accelerator pedal" appears. If now the accelerator pedal is pressed, the text message "RACE START - release brake to start" appears. After releasing the brake the text message "RACE START active" appears and the function is carried out.
The function is terminated by pressing the steering wheel downshift button (S110/1). In the multifunction display the text message "RACE START" terminated appears".
