- Position transmission vertically.
Mount assembly device (2) on torque converter.
To do so, set the height of the
assembly device (2) on the knob (1) so that this can be slid over the guide (A) of the torque converter.
Turn the assembly device (2) clockwise until the guide (A) lies against the torque converter.
- Pull the knob (1) tight until the torque converter and
assembly device (2) engage with each other (arrow).
- Remove torque converter without tilting.

Drain transmission oil from the torque converter through a clean cloth.
In case metal shavings are present in the transmission oil pan.
In event of transmission oil that is burnt or contaminated with wear debris:
If there are metal shavings present on the cloth, the torque converter must be replaced. Otherwise, the transmission will be damaged by any remaining metal shavings.
(6.2) Rinse torque converter, oil lines and oil cooler.
- Apply a little multi-purpose paste to journal (3).
- Insert torque converter carefully without tilting.
Do not use force.
Otherwise, the axial end stop of the torque converter will be destroyed.
Ensure that radial shaft sealing ring (4) is not touched or damaged.
Otherwise, this can lead to leaks and damage in the transmission.
Ensure that the gearing of the drive shaft and of the torque converter align.
When doing so, move the torque converter back and forth until the drive spigots of the oil pump engage in the cutouts of the torque converter.
Place parallel gauge (01) on flange of transmission housing.
- Use a vernier caliper to measure the difference dimension (D1) from the parallel gauge (01) to the bolt flange of the torque converter.
- Add measured difference dimension (D1) and specified distance dimension (D2) together.
Detach assembly device (2) from torque converter.
Remove torque converter
Insert torque converter
Check that torque converter is seated correctly
The torque converter must sit correctly.
Otherwise, the transmission will be damaged and cause damage to the oil pump.
For a correctly installed torque converter, the sum (D1+D2) corresponds to the thickness (D3) of the
parallel gauge (01): D1+ D2= D3.
If D1+ D2 ≈ ≈ D3:
Take the torque converter out again, install once more and ensure correct fit.
