Remove/install power electronics with power distributor - AR08.10-P-0011EH

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 °C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

DANGER Risk of death  when touching components on vehicles with high-voltage on-board electrical system Do not touch components and open lines of the high-voltage on-board electrical system. Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not  carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems. AS54.00-Z-0001-01A

1 Perform disable for the high-voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1150EH
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT When replacing the power electronics control unit (N129/1) the interior and engine wiring harness electrical connection (X26) must be contacted before commissioning of the high-voltage on-board electrical system and subsequent commissioning of the power electronics control unit (N129/1) with Star Diagnosis.
2 Remove engine   AR01.10-P-2400EH
3 Remove heat shield (1)    
4 Remove bracket (2)    
5 Remove screw/bolt (3) and remove oil dipstick guide tube (4) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace O-ring on oil dipstick guide tube (4).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION

6 Remove retaining clamp (5)    
7 Remove bracket (7) from housing for electrical machine (8)    
8 Unscrew screw/bolt (9)    
9 Remove screw/bolt (11) and remove protective hoop (12) to the rear TORQUE SPECIFICATION

10 Remove screw/bolt (13) and take high voltage plug (14) from high-voltage connection on housing for electrical machine (8) NOTES Handle the high-voltage plug (14) carefully; cover if necessary.
The shielding on the high voltage plug (14) can get damaged otherwise.
IMPORTANT Screw/bolt (13) serves as the removal and pulling-in device and is integrated into the high-voltage plug (14).

11 Remove screw/bolt (15) and remove bracket (16) for high-voltage line (17) from electrical A/C compressor (A9/5)    
12 Remove electrical wiring harness (18) from bracket (16)    
13 Detach high-voltage line (17) from charge air pipe (19)    
14 Remove screw/bolts (20) and remove cable duct (21) from engine TORQUE SPECIFICATION

15 Detach high voltage plug (22) from electrical A/C compressor (A9/5)    
16 Remove electrical line circuit (36) on the retaining clamps (10) from power electronics control unit (N129/1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure correct seating of the electrical line (36).  
17 Release and disconnect electrical connection (23) on power electronics control unit (N129/1)    
18 Remove electrical wiring harness (25) from power electronics control unit (N129/1) INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure contact surfaces are absolutely clean.
There may be contact problems otherwise and consequently damage to the high-voltage system.

19 Remove electrical line potential equalization (24) from power electronics control unit (N129/1) INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure contact surfaces are absolutely clean.
There may be contact problems otherwise and consequently damage to the high-voltage system.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION

20 Remove coolant hose (26) from power electronics control unit (N129/1) IMPORTANT Catch escaping coolant and close off openings.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check hose coupling (26) and coolant hose for damage; replace if necessary.
 
SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 5
21 Remove screw/bolts (27)    
22 Remove screw/bolts (29) and remove power electronics control unit (N129/1) NOTES Take note during taking off and insertion of power electronics control unit (N129/1) of the 3-phase high-voltage line (6) and the high-voltage lines (17, 28).
These components can be damaged otherwise.
IMPORTANT Helper required.

  When replacing the power distributor (34) or the power electronics control unit (N129/1)     
23 Remove bracket (30) from power electronics control unit (N129/1)    
24 Remove cable duct (21) from the high-voltage lines (28)    
25 Remove screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) in the reverse sequence of the numbering.

26 Evenly lift off and take off power distributor (34) using two long wedge (35) NOTES The power distributor (34) must be removed/installed evenly without tilting. Tilting of the power distributor (34) to the power electronics control unit (N129/1) can otherwise lead to damage to the contacting on the power electronics control unit (N129/1).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Push the power distributor (34) onto the power electronics control unit (N129/1), carefully and evenly, until the screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) can be put on. Then use the screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) to pull the power distributor (34) evenly onto the power electronics control unit (N129/1) and screw in screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) all the way.

27 Install in the reverse order    
28 Inspect cooling system for leaks   AR20.00-P-1010CW
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
29 Carry out an engine test run and check engine for leaks and proper operation
