Location 

The dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump is located in the left rear in the trunk behind the trunk side trim.

Location 

The dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump is located at the left rear in the cargo area behind the left stowage compartment.

On vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump is installed behind the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

Tasks 

• Compressed air supply
• Pressure monitoring of the reservoir by means of a sensor
• Switching on/off the integrated solenoid valve for compressed air supply
• Leakage recognition
• Automatic shutoff of compressed air supply after t = 60 s of continuous operation of the multicontour seat pneumatic pump
• Overpressure run of air-operated system, for draining compression moisture in composite pressure vessel through a pressure relief valve mounted on the container

The tasks are subdivided as follows:

• Reading in of sensors and signals 
• Evaluation of input factors 
• Actuation of components 

Reading in of sensors and signals 

The input factors are read in via the following connection:

• Interior CAN (CAN B) 

Interior CAN 

The signals of the following components are read in via interior CAN:

• Request for compressed air supply, sent by left front dynamic multicontour seat control unit (N32/19)
• Request for compressed air supply, sent by right front dynamic multicontour seat control unit (N32/22) (except code (494) USA version)

A pressure sensor is integrated in the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump that monitors the pressure of the reservoir.

Evaluation of input factors 

The read in input factors are evaluated by the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump. The pneumatic pump is actuated accordingly.

Actuation of components 

The following components are actuated internally by the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump:

• Solenoid valve for compressed air supply
• Solenoid valve for draining the compression moisture in the pressure tank

The dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump does not actuate any components via interior CAN. Only information about further processing and information for other control units is sent via interior CAN.
