Location
The dynamic multicontour seat control unit is located centrally in the backrest frame of the front seat.
In vehicles with code (494) USA version only the driver seat is a dynamic multicontour seat.
Tasks
- Inflation and deflation of the multicontour seat air cushions
- Control of the massage function
- Actuation of the dynamic lateral support
- Reading in of voltage-coded signals of the driver dynamic multicontour seat button group (S109) or front passenger dynamic multicontour seat button group (S108)
- Communication with other control units through interior CAN (CAN B)
- Adjustment of stored pressure values when memory function and storage of actual contours (with code (275) Memory package (electrically adjustable front seats)
- Function monitoring

Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The signals of the following components are read in from the respective dynamic multicontour seat control unit via direct lines:
- Driver dynamic multicontour seat button group
- Front passenger dynamic multicontour seat button group
- Limit switch in the left front massage function actuator motor (M94)
- Limit switch in the right front massage function actuator motor (M95)
Interior CAN
The dynamic multicontour seat control units communicate with the following control units over the interior CAN:
- Driver seat control unit (N32/1) or front passenger seat control unit (N32/2) (adjustment and storage of seat contours) (with code (275) Memory package for electrically adjustable front seats)
- Dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump (M40/1) (control of the compressed air supply)
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) as Gateway for the dynamic and PRE-SAFE® function
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors read in are evaluated by the dynamic multicontour seat control unit and the relevant components are actuated.
Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
Direct line
The following components are actuated by the respective dynamic multicontour seat control unit via direct lines:
- LED in the dynamic multicontour seat button group (function feedback)
- Front seat massage function actuator motor
- Main valve in front seat massage function actuator motor
The air cushions in the seats are inflated and deflated using the piezo valves integrated into the dynamic multicontour seat control units. The actuation of the air cushion rows in the massage insert is done through the corresponding seat massage function actuator motor, regulated by the respective dynamic multicontour seat control unit.
Interior CAN
The dynamic multicontour seat control units communicate with the dynamic multicontour seat pneumatic pump over the interior CAN in order to regulate the compressed air supply.
Body
Pressure sensors and piezo valves are integrated in the dynamic multicontour seat control unit.
