The crankshaft bearing caps must only be installed in one position. If installed in the correct position, the lug (arrow) at the crankshaft bearing cap is pointing to the rear (inlet side). The crankshaft bearing caps are machined together with the crankcase and must not be interchanged.
The crankshaft bearing caps are numbered consecutively, beginning at the first crankshaft bearing cap on the timing case cover.
