Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not  carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems. AS54.00-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove transmitter key and battery charger power supply plug    
2 Perform enable for the high voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1160MEV
3 Remove interior flap above engine   AR88.40-P-1100-03MCC
4 Remove fender liners in left and right fenders Engine 780.009 in model 451.391/491 except code 494 (US version) AR88.10-P-1400MCC
    Engine 780.009 in model 451.391/491 with code 494 (US version) AR88.10-P-1400MCU
5 Remove cable ties (16) from charging current line (15)    
6 Remove screw/bolts (arrows A) on left and right from rear apron    
7 Unclip rear apron from brackets (arrows B) on left and right    
8 Unhook ball head (8) on parking lock cable on transmission    
9 Unhook counter bearing (9) on parking lock cable from transmission    
10 Unscrew nuts (10) and remove folding clamp (11) with brake lines from the screw bolt    
11 Remove cable tie (arrow D) in the area of the brake booster vacuum line (12) IMPORTANT The cable tie (arrow D) includes the battery wiring harness, the ground line and the engine wiring harness.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Replace cable tie (arrow S).
 
  Lower, position     
12 Position major assembly lifting platform below electric motor drive (M5) and transmission (13) and support electric motor drive (M5) with suitable base (14)    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 03 62 00 Lifting platform   WS01.00-P-0091A 
13 Replace screw/bolts (1) by lowering bolts (4) and screw/bolts (2) by lowering bolts (3)    
REFER TO SHOP-MADE TOOLS     WF58.50-P-0350-01MEV
    NOTES Only use lowering bolts (3, 4) in combination with the spacer sleeves.
If spacer sleeves are not used, the high-voltage battery on the electrical line connecting point (arrow C) can be damaged.
IMPORTANT Before screwing in lowering bolts (3), push spacer sleeves onto lowering bolts (3).
IMPORTANT Observe installation location of screw/bolts (1, 2).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, integral carrier to body

14 Lower rear drive module carefully NOTES When lowering the rear drive module check for unobstructed movement of the electrical lines and hoses.
Otherwise they may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When lowering, ensure that there is unobstructed movement between the rear drive module and the vehicle high-voltage battery on the electrical line connecting point (arrow C). Check unobstructed movement with aid of second person when lowering.
IMPORTANT When lifting rear drive module, ensure that the pull rod of the hand brake cable is routed in the guide in the undercarriage. Before tightening screw/bolts (1, 2) ensure that the parking brake functions properly by actuating the parking brake lever several times.
 
15 Remove lifting platform major assembly below electric motor drive (M5) and transmission (13)    
16 Install in the reverse order
