| Checking | |||
Check engine for oil loss, rectify oil loss if required | |
Check part-load vent lines for signs of leaks, rectify leak if required | |
Check air lines for signs of leaks, rectify leak if necessary | |
Park vehicle horizontally | |
Start engine | |
Switch off engine after reaching coolant temperature of 80 °C and wait for 5 minutes | |
Clean oil dipstick and insert into oil dipstick guide tube | |
Pull oil dipstick after approx. 1 min. out of oil dipstick guide tube | |
Use a suitable scriber to mark the oil dipstick | |
After a driven distance of roughly 1000 km, check the engine oil level again | To correctly measure the oil consumption, a driven distance of roughly 1000 km should lie between the individual measurements.
|
Top up engine oil in steps of 100 ml to the mark made on the oil dipstick | |
Calculate oil consumption | V x 1000/S V = Differential quantity in liters s = measured distance covered in km The oil consumption limit for smart engines over 1000 km is 0.8 liters.
