ENGINE 160, 660 in MODEL 450

ENGINE 132, 660 in MODEL 451

ENGINE 160 in MODEL 452

ENGINE 122, 134, 135, 639 in MODEL 454

INSPECT Checking
1 Check engine for oil loss, rectify oil loss if required
2 Check part-load vent lines for signs of leaks, rectify leak if required
3 Check air lines for signs of leaks, rectify leak if necessary
4 Park vehicle horizontally IMPORTANT For example on wheel alignment system.
5 Start engine
6 Switch off engine after reaching coolant temperature of 80 °C and wait for 5 minutes
7 Clean oil dipstick and insert into oil dipstick guide tube
8 Pull oil dipstick after approx. 1 min. out of oil dipstick guide tube IMPORTANT The engine oil level must not exceed the max. mark on the oil dipstick.
9 Use a suitable scriber to mark the oil dipstick IMPORTANT This serves to record the current engine oil level with the engine at operating temperature.
10 After a driven distance of roughly 1000 km, check the engine oil level again IMPORTANT Steps 1 to 9.
To correctly measure the oil consumption, a driven distance of roughly 1000 km should lie between the individual measurements.

11 Top up engine oil in steps of 100 ml to the mark made on the oil dipstick IMPORTANT The measurement and refilling of the engine oil should be done in the presence of the customer.
12 Calculate oil consumption IMPORTANT Calculate actual oil consumption:
V x 1000/S
V = Differential quantity in liters
s = measured distance covered in km
The oil consumption limit for smart engines over 1000 km is 0.8 liters.
