  Preparatory activity     
1 Open engine hood and raise to vertical position Model 205, 207, 212, 218  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR ENGINE 207, 212
IMPORTANT Model 207, 212 with code U60 (Active engine hood (pedestrian protection))
Moving the engine hood to the vertical position: 
Detach left and right clamping levers at the upper left and right hinges.		 AR88.40-P-1000EW
REMOVING Remove     
2.1 Remove ignition coils Engine 157, 272 (except 272.983), 273, 276, 278 in model 212
Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 218
Engine 272 (except 272.982/984), 273, 276, 278 in model 207
Engine 276.8 in model 205		  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 212, 218 AR15.12-P-2003EL

2.2 Detach spark plug connectors (2) from spark plugs (1) Engine 272.982/984 in model 207

CLEANING Clean     
3 Blow out any dirt residue in the spark-plug recesses using compressed air SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Figure

REMOVING Remove     
4 Remove spark plugs (1) using spark plug wrench (01) from cylinder heads SPECIAL TOOL Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 212

5 Screw new spark plugs (1) using spark plug wrench (01) into cylinder heads TORQUE SPECIFICATION Spark plug to cylinder head *BA15.10-P-1001-01C 
SPECIAL TOOL Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 212
Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 218
Engine 276, 278 in model 207

INSPECT Check     
6 Check spark plug connector (2), ignition coils and ignition lines for damage, deformation and crack formation If there are problems:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.		  
INSTALLING Install     
7 Grease rubber lips (3) of spark plug connectors (2) using spark plug connector grease before installation Spark plug connector grease *BR00.45-Z-1102-06A 
8.1 Install ignition coils Engine 157, 272 (except 272.983), 273, 276, 278 in model 212

Engine 272 (except 272.982/984), 273, 276, 278 in model 207
Engine 276.8 in model 205		  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Engine 157, 276, 278 in model 212, 218 AR15.12-P-2003EL

9 Close engine hood Model 205, 207, 212, 218
