Pretreatment of bonding surfaces - AH60.00-P-0008-01SX

Model 117, 156, 166, 172, 176, 190, 197, 204, 205, 207, 209, 212, 213, 216, 217, 218, 221, 222, 231, 242, 246, 253, 292

Pretreatment of bonding surfaces made of aluminum and steel

It is necessary to carefully prepare the bonding surfaces in order to obtain a good bond between the adhesive and the surfaces of the parts to be attached.

After removing old adhesive, dirt, rust, paint or oxide layers from bonding surfaces, the adhesive flanges can be ground down to bare metal.

IMPORTANT On aluminum surfaces, use CrNi wire brush.

The mixed primer must only be applied to the bare flange areas if they have previously been cleaned with a brush or lint-free cloth soaked in the supplied cleaning agent.

After use, dispose of cleaning cloth as special waste due to the residue of the cleaning agent.

IMPORTANT Do not touch cleaned areas without gloves (transfer of sweat from hands).

Primer

IMPORTANT Metal mating surfaces require pretreatment with primer for bonding. This primer is required to ensure surface cleanliness as well as improved long-term stability of the bonds.

Bond primed surfaces immediately after applying the primer to prevent corrosion and contamination on the surfaces.

The mixed primer is applied thinly to the prepared bonding surfaces using a flat brush.

The mixed primer is worked into the surface using unused abrasive paper from the package contents.

IMPORTANT The result is positive when a uniform film of primer is present. If this is not the case, repeat pretreatment.

When a positive result has been obtained, bonding can be started after the primer has been wiped off using a lint-free paper towel.

NOTES Always observe the specified operation steps and work instructions given in the adhesive kit.

Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
