Notes on telephone retrofitting - AH82.70-P-0001-04B

MODEL 129 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01, 168 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01, 170 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01, 202 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01, 208 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01, 210 as of 7/1/00 up to 6/30/01 without CODE 855 (TELE AID) 

Retrofitting a telephone with D2B optical fiber technology is recommended only for vehicles that already contain components of the D2B ring, e.g. audio 30 radio.

Vehicles without these components should preferably be retrofitted with conventionally attached telephones supplied by Mercedes-Benz Accessories.

Vehicles with code 273 are prepared for installation of conventionally attached telephones supplied by Mercedes-Benz Accessories. Operation via the multifunction steering wheel is then not possible.

On vehicles with multifunction steering wheel (telephone operation via buttons on steering wheel), retrofitting a telephone with D2B optical fiber technology is advisable.

For this purpose, either a radio from the new audio series or COMAND must be installed.

In the case of audio 30 APS and audio 10 radios, a button panel with numeric pad is not present. Telephone operation via the radio is therefore not possible (see operator's manual).

The cell phone must then be installed on the center console.
