MODEL 208.3/4 

The front-end structure is designed similar to model series 202, but it is 53 mm longer because of the stretched front-end section. Essential components such as firewall, connecting carrier and crossmembers (front axle) as well as the mounting consoles on the front suspension mounting are identical.

When replacing the front reinforcement and the radiator support the type-specific inspection and welding gauges (special tools) are to be used.

NOTES With front-end repairs the mounting of the inspection and welding gauge is only permissible using the vehicle's lift support points, if it has been ensured that the longitudinal and crossmembers are in the correct design position. Even with minor deformations of the longitudinal member or the crossmember the inspection and welding gauge is to be mounted to a straightening tool set on the straightening bench.

This is the only way of ensuring that all the dimensions for the wheel arch panel, radiator support and headlamp reinforcement remain in the permissible tolerance range.
