DTC B1639/81: Rear Sensor Initialization Incomplete RH [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) and rear airbag sensor RH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) and rear airbag sensor RH.
    2. Check that the connectors (on the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) side and rear airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged.

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE)

    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) with side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) and connect the connectors to them.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1639/81 and B1649/82 are not output A
      DTC B1649/82 is output B
      DTC B1639/81 is output C

      *1 Side Airbag Sensor LH (for Rear Side)
      *2 Side Airbag Sensor RH (for Front Side)
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) and side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    C: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE) - REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH)

    1. Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH (for rear side) and rear airbag sensor RH.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      G16-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 and 1 of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - G16-2 (BDR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - G16-2 (BDR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-1 (BDR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

    1. Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with rear airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1639/81 and B1649/82 are not output A
      DTC B1649/82 is output B
      DTC B1639/81 is output C

    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  6. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2014 - ] 
  7. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  8. REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  9. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ]
