DTC B1623/81: Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Initialization Incomplete [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK PAST DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch off.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Check the past DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1622/81 is output A
      DTC B1627/82 is output B
      DTC B1622/81 and B1627/82 are not output C

    A → See step   10 

    B → See step   11 

    C: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and side airbag sensor RH (for front side).

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and side airbag sensor RH (for front side).
    2. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and side airbag sensor RH (for front side) side) are not damaged.

      OK

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR FRONT SIDE) 
    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH (for front side) with side airbag sensor LH (for front side) and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1628/82 is output A
      DTC B1623/81 and B1628/82 are not output B
      DTC B1623/81 is output C

      *1 Side Airbag Sensor LH (for Front Side)
      *2 Center Airbag Sensor Assembly
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the side airbag sensor RH (for front side) and side airbag sensor LH (for front side) to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    C: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE) CIRCUIT

    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G16-4 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      G16-3 (BCR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 and 2 of connector E.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-4 (BCR+) - G16-3 (BCR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-4 (BCR+) - G16-3 (BCR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-4 (BCR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-3 (BCR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE) - REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH)

    1. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      G16-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    4. Turn the ignition switch off.
    5. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    6. Using a service wire, connect terminals 2 and 1 of connector C.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - G16-2 (BDR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
    9. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G16-1 (BDR+) - G16-2 (BDR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-1 (BDR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      G16-2 (BDR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE)

    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) and connect the connectors to them.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1628/82 is output A
      DTC B1623/81 and B1628/82 are not output B
      DTC B1623/81 is output C

      *1 Side Airbag Sensor LH (for Rear Side)
      *2 Side Airbag Sensor RH (for Front Side)
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the side airbag sensor RH and side airbag sensor LH (for rear side) to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    C: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

    1. Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with rear airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [08/2014 - ] .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1623/81 is output A
      DTC B1628/82 is output B
      DTC B1623/81 and B1628/82 are not output C

      *1 Rear Airbag Sensor LH
      *2 Side Airbag Sensor RH (for Rear Side)

      HINT: 

      DTCs other than B1623/81 and B1628/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    10. Return the rear airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (REAR SIDE) - FRONT DOOR WIRE RH)

    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.
    2. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      EG1-4 (BCR-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch off.
    6. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    7. Using a service wire, connect terminals 3 and 4 of connector B.
      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BCR+) - EG1-4 (BCR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
    10. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BCR+) - EG1-4 (BCR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher
      EG1-3 (BCR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      EG1-4 (BCR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH 

  10. GO TO DTC B1622/81. Refer to  DTC B1620/21: Side Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1622/81: Lost communication with Side Airbag Sensor RH [08/2014 - ]  
  11. GO TO DTC B1627/82. Refer to  DTC B1625/22: Side Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1627/82: Lost communication with Side Airbag Sensor LH [08/2014 - ]  
  12. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR FRONT SIDE). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  13. REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  14. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ] 
  15. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [08/2014 - ] 
  16. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH (FOR REAR SIDE). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2014 - ]
