DTC P0AA4-232: EV Battery Negative Contactor Circuit Stuck Closed: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV control system are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only P0AA4-232 is output or P0AA4-232 and DTCs other than the ones in the table below are also output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic procedure.
      • P0AA4-232 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV battery system are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs related to EV Battery are not output, or DTCs other than the following are output. A
      Any of the following DTCs are also output. B

      P0B56-123 EV Battery No. 1 Voltage Sense "F" Circuit Low
      P0B5B-123 EV Battery No. 1 Voltage Sense "G" Circuit Low
      P0B60-123 EV Battery No. 1 Voltage Sense "H" Circuit Low

      HINT: 

      P0AA4-232 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (EV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Trouble Codes.
    4. Read the freeze frame data of DTC P0AA4-232.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Battery No. 1 Current Value is 0.5 A or more. A
      Battery No. 1 Current Value is less than 0.5 A. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   5 

    A → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  5. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  6. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  7. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
