DTC P0851-775: Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs related to the EV control system are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Only P0851-775 is output. A
      P0705-757 is also output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A22-23 (N) - Body ground Power switch on (IG)
      N position
      11 to 14 V
      A22-23 (N) - Body ground Power switch on (IG)
      Except N position
      1.2 to 2.8 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Power Management Control ECU)
    3. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 

    Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    OK → See step   6 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) See step   4 

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B5-7 (+B) - B5-2 (N) N position Below 1 Ω
      B5-7 (+B) - B5-2 (N) Except N position 4.2 to 5.2 kΩ

      (Shift Lever Position Sensor)
    3. Reconnect the shift lever position sensor connector.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU MUST BE REPLACED 
    1. Even though it has been determined that the power management control ECU needs to be replaced, make sure to inspect the voltage difference between No. 1 EV battery and No. 2 EV battery before replacing it.

    NEXT → See step   9 

  7. GO TO DTC CHART (P0705-757). Refer to  DTC P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit  
  8. REPLACE SHIFT LEVER POSITION SENSOR. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  9. GO TO NO. 1 EV BATTERY - NO. 2 EV BATTERY VOLTAGE DIFFERENCE INSPECTION. Refer to  No. 1 EV Battery - No. 2 EV Battery Voltage Difference Inspection
