DTC P0AFC-123: EV Battery No. 1 Pack Sensor Module: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read output DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P31AB-123, P1A61-123 and P1A64-123 is not output. A
      P31AB-123, P1A61-123 or P1A64-123 is output. B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   17 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read the freeze frame data of DTC P0AFC-123.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "+B" is 11 V or higher A
      "+B" is below 11 V B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Data List / +B
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Standard

      Techstream Display Condition Specified Condition
      +B IG ON
      (No electrical load)
      11 V or higher
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Outside standard range A
      Within standard range B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. RECHARGE AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Check the auxiliary battery. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1 .
    2. Recharge the auxiliary battery. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 3 .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BATTERY NO. 1 BLOCK VOLTAGE, BATTERY NO. 2 BLOCK VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Data List / Battery No. 1 Block Voltage -V01 to V12 and Battery No. 2 Block Voltage -V01 to V12
    5. Separately find the sums of Battery No. 1 Block Voltage - V01 to V12 and also Battery No. 2 Block Voltage - V01 to V12.
    6. Find the difference between the sum of Battery No. 1 Block Voltage - V01 to V12 and the sum of No. 2 Battery No. 2 Block Voltage - V01 to V12.

      Standard

      The difference between the two sums has an absolute value of less than 5 V.

      HINT: 

      Refer to the following formula to calculate the difference.

      |(Battery No. 1 Block Voltage -V01 + V02 + V03 + V04 + V05 + V06 + V07 + V08 + V09 + V10 + V11 + V12) - (Battery No. 2 Block Voltage -V01 + V02 + V03 + V04 + V05 + V06 + V07 + V08 + V09 + V10 + V11 + V12)| < 5 V

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Difference between the two sums is 5 V or more. A
      Difference between the two sums is less than 5 V. B
    7. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to COMPONENTS

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  7. PERFORM UTILITY USING TECHSTREAM (BATTERY PACK MALF FAIL-SAFE DRIVE HISTORY CLEAR) 
    1. Perform the Utility "Battery Pack Malf Fail-Safe Drive History Clear". Refer to UTILITY
      NOTE:

      For the Techstream data that was read out in step 5, if the difference between the sum of Battery No. 1 Block Voltage - V01 to V12 and the sum of No. 2 Battery No. 2 Block Voltage - V01 to V12 is 5 V or more, make sure to perform the battery pack malfunction fail-safe drive history clear after replacing the electric vehicle battery assembly.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG) and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    2. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    3. Read output DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P0AFC-123 is output A
      P300E-123 is output B
      DTC is not output C
    4. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   19 

    C → END 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Check the connections of the Gi1 connector of the electric vehicle battery assembly.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AM AND IGCT VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.

    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service grip removed causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      Gi1-33 (+) - Gi1-19 (-) Power switch off 8.6 V or higher
      Gi1-32 (+) - Gi1-19 (-) Power switch on (IG) 8.6 V or higher

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    8. Connect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to COMPONENTS

    HINT: 

    If the electric vehicle battery assembly is replaced in step 6, proceed to the next step.

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (GND - BODY GROUND) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    4. Connect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECU-B NO. 3 FUSE OR IGCT NO. 3 FUSE - ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY) 

    NEXT → See step   18 

  15. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    NEXT → See step   18 

  16. CONNECT SECURELY (ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR) 

    NEXT → See step   18 

  17. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  18. GO TO NO. 1 EV BATTERY - NO. 2 EV BATTERY VOLTAGE DIFFERENCE INSPECTION. Refer to  No. 1 EV Battery - No. 2 EV Battery Voltage Difference Inspection 
  19. GO TO DTC CHART (P300E-123) See step   10
