DTC P0A82-123: EV Battery No. 1 Pack Cooling Fan 1 Performance / Stuck OFF: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    5. Read output DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P0AFC-123 or P300E-123 is not output. A
      P0AFC-123 or P300E-123 is output B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   16 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY (NO. 1 BATTERY VOLTAGE SENSOR VOLTAGE) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Active Test / Driving the Battery Cooling Fan.
    5. Enter the following menus: All Data / VMF Fan Motor Voltage 1.
    6. Select each air volume mode (1 to 6) in the "Driving the Battery Cooling Fan" Active Test to operate the battery cooling blower assembly.
      NOTE:

      If the Active Test cannot be performed, skip it and proceed to the next step to check voltage. In accordance with fail-safe system operation, the power management control ECU sends a command to operate the battery cooling fan.

    7. While the cooling fan is operating, compare the value in the data list (VMF Fan Motor Voltage 1) with the voltage value that was actually measured at the AG1 intermediate connector.

      Standard

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      AG1-13 - Body ground Battery cooling blower is operating by the Active Test Difference between the value in the Data List (VMF Fan Motor Voltage 1) and the actual measurement value is 1 V or less.

      HINT: 

      Compare the values in each air volume mode (1 to 6). If the active test cannot be performed, compare the values only in the current air volume mode.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Outside standard range A
      Within standard range B
    8. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY COOLING BLOWER ASSEMBLY - ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.
    3. Disconnect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A37-2 (VM0) - Gi1-36 Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A37-2 (VM0) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    5. Connect the electric vehicle battery assembly connector.
    6. Connect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.

    OK → See step   13 

    NG → See step   15 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY COOLING BLOWER ASSEMBLY - POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the power management control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A37-3 (SI0) - A22-11 (SI0) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      A37-3 (SI0) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    4. Connect the battery cooling blower assembly connector.
    5. Connect the power management control ECU connector.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU (GROUND SHORT CHECK) 
    1. Disconnect all the power management control ECU connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A22-11 (SI0) - C21-24 (E1) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      A22-11 (SI0) - C22-23 (E12) Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      NOTE:

      When taking a measurement with a tester, do not apply excessive force to the tester probe to avoid damaging the holder.

    3. Connect all the power management control ECU connectors.

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE BATTERY COOLING BLOWER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to COMPONENTS

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  7. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Data List / Temperature of Battery No. 1 TB 1 to 10 and Temperature of Battery No. 2 TB 1 to 10.
    5. Drive the vehicle until "Temperature of Battery No. 1 TB1 to TB10" and "Temperature of Battery No. 2 TB1 to TB10" is stored in the Freeze Frame Data and then start the battery cooling blower assembly.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    2. Read the DTC.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      P0A82-123 is output. A
      P0A82-123 is not output. B
    3. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   17 

    A: Go to next step 

  9. REPLACE EV BATTERY AIR CLEANER FILTER 
    1. Replace the EV battery air cleaner filter. Refer to COMPONENTS .
      NOTE:

      Replace the EV battery duct sub-assembly simultaneously when the EV battery air cleaner filter replacement is necessary.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  10. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  11. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Data List / Temperature of Battery No. 1 TB 1 to 10 and Temperature of Battery No. 2 TB 1 to 10.
    5. Drive the vehicle until "Temperature of Battery No. 1 TB1 to TB10" and "Temperature of Battery No. 2 TB1 to TB10" is stored in the Freeze Frame Data and then start the battery cooling blower assembly.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (EV BATTERY) 
    1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / EV Battery / Trouble Codes.
    2. Confirm that the DTC P0A82-123 is not output.

  13. REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to COMPONENTS

    NEXT → See step   17 

  14. POWER MANAGEMENT CONTROL ECU MUST BE REPLACED 
    1. Even though it has been determined that the power management control ECU needs to be replaced, make sure to inspect the voltage difference between No. 1 EV battery and No. 2 EV battery before replacing it.

  15. REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    NEXT → See step   17 

  16. GO TO DTC CHART (HYBRID BATTERY SYSTEM). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  17. GO TO NO. 1 EV BATTERY - NO. 2 EV BATTERY VOLTAGE DIFFERENCE INSPECTION. Refer to  No. 1 EV Battery - No. 2 EV Battery Voltage Difference Inspection
