DTC B1628/82: Side Airbag Sensor Assembly LH Initialization Incomplete: Procedure

  1. CHECK HISTORY DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Check for history DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      History DTC B1627/82 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than history DTCs B1627/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly, door side airbag sensor LH and side airbag sensor assembly LH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly, door side airbag sensor LH and side airbag sensor assembly LH.
    5. Check that the terminals of connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Interchange the door side airbag sensor LH with door side airbag sensor RH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1628/82 is output. A
      DTC B1623/81 is output. B
      DTC B1623/81 or B1628/82 is not output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1623/81 and B1628/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    10. Return the door side airbag sensor LH and door side airbag sensor RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH CIRCUIT (OPEN) 
    1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 4 (BBL+) and 3 (BBL-) of connector E.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F7-1 (BBL+) - F7-2 (BBL-) Always Below 1 Ω

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH CIRCUIT (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F7-1 (BBL+) - F7-2 (BBL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F7-1 (BBL+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      F7-2 (BBL-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  7. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F7-1 (BBL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      F7-2 (BBL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly LH with side airbag sensor assembly RH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1623/81 or B1628/82 is not output. A
      DTC B1628/82 is output. B
      DTC B1623/81 is output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1623/81 and B1628/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    10. Return the side airbag sensor assembly RH and side airbag sensor assembly LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire LH.

      HINT: 

      The service wire has already been inserted into connector E.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      FG1-3 (BBL+) - FG1-4 (BBL-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE LH 

  10. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire LH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      FG1-3 (BBL+) -FG1-4 (BBL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE LH 

  11. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire LH.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      FG1-3 (BBL+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      FG1-4 (BBL-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE LH 

  12. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire LH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      FG1-3 (BBL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      FG1-4 (BBL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE LH 

  13. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  14. REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. GO TO DTC B1627/82. Refer to  DTC B1625/22: Side Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1627/82: Lost communication with Side Airbag Sensor LH
