DTC B1623/81: Side Airbag Sensor Assembly RH Initialization Incomplete: Procedure

  1. CHECK HISTORY DTC 
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    2. Check for history DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      History DTC B1622/81 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than history DTCs B1622/81 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the airbag ECU assembly, door side airbag sensor RH and side airbag sensor assembly RH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the airbag ECU assembly, door side airbag sensor RH and side airbag sensor assembly RH.
    5. Check that the terminals of connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPLACE WIRE HARNESS 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH 
    1. Interchange the door side airbag sensor RH with door side airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1623/81 is output. A
      DTC B1628/82 is output. B
      DTC B1623/81 or B1628/82 is not output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1623/81 and B1628/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    10. Return the door side airbag sensor RH and door side airbag sensor LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH CIRCUIT (OPEN) 
    1. Using a service wire, connect terminals 4 (BBR+) and 3 (BBR-) of connector E.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E7-1 (BBR+) - E7-2 (BBR-) Always Below 1 Ω

  5. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH CIRCUIT (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E7-1 (BBR+) - E7-2 (BBR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E7-1 (BBR+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      E7-2 (BBR-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  7. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E7-1 (BBR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      E7-2 (BBR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly RH with side airbag sensor assembly LH and connect the connectors to them.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    4. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1623/81 or B1628/82 is not output. A
      DTC B1623/81 is output. B
      DTC B1628/82 is output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTCs B1623/81 and B1628/82 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    8. Turn the power switch off.
    9. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    10. Return the side airbag sensor assembly LH and side airbag sensor assembly RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

  9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.

      HINT: 

      The service wire has already been inserted into connector E.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BBR+) - EG1-4 (BBR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Disconnect the service wire from connector E.

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH 

  10. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BBR+) - EG1-4 (BBR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH 

  11. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.

    2. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BBR+) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V
      EG1-4 (BBR-) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) Below 1 V

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH 

  12. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the floor wire connector from the front door wire RH.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EG1-3 (BBR+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      EG1-4 (BBR-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK → REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH 

  13. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  14. REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  17. GO TO DTC B1622/81. Refer to  DTC B1620/21: Side Airbag Sensor RH Circuit Malfunction; DTC B1622/81: Lost communication with Side Airbag Sensor RH
