Charge Lid Illumination Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → GO TO DTC CHART 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE LID SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data list.
    4. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      PLUG-IN CONTROL

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Charge Lid SW Charging port lid switch status/
      ON or OFF
      ON: Charging port lid opened
      OFF: Charging port lid closed

      OK

      Data monitor value changes to match charge lid status.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE CABLE INSERTED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data list.
    4. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      PLUG-IN CONTROL

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Charge Cable Inserted Electric vehicle charger cable assembly insertion condition without considering ON/OFF of the latch release button (Pl switch)/
      ON or OFF
      ON: Electric vehicle charger cable assembly inserted
      OFF: Electric vehicle charger cable assembly not inserted

      OK

      Data monitor value changes to match electric vehicle charge cable connection status.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE CABLE ENGAGED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data list.
    4. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      PLUG-IN CONTROL

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Charge Cable Engaged Electric vehicle charger cable assembly latch release button (Pl switch) condition/
      ON or OFF
      ON: Latch release button (Pl switch) released when electric vehicle charger cable assembly inserted
      OFF: Latch release (Pl switch) engaged when electric vehicle charger cable assembly inserted

      OK

      When electric vehicle charge cable is connected, data monitor value changes to match lock release button (PI switch) status.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   14 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE LID TURN OFF LIGHT STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data list.
    4. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List.
      PLUG-IN CONTROL

      Techstream Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Charge Lid Turn Off Light Status Charging inlet light turn off request/
      ON or OFF
      ON: Charging inlet light not illuminated
      OFF: Charging inlet light illuminated
      Diagnostic Note:
      A turn off request is sent when the electric vehicle charger cable assembly is connected or the power switch is turned on (READY).
      Check of the charging inlet light function can be performed together with checking the results of "Charge Cable inserted" and "Charge Cable Engaged".

      OK

      Data monitor value changes to match charging lid illumination off request status.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Check the vehicle specifications.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Vehicle with quick charging inlet A
      Vehicle without quick charging inlet B

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY - PLUGIN CHARGE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the V3 electric vehicle charger cable assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A25 plugin charge control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V3-7 (DCC) - A25-7 (DCC) Always Below 1 Ω
      V3-7 (DCC) or A25-7 (DCC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY - PLUGIN CHARGE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the V1 electric vehicle charger cable assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the C26 plugin charge control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      V1-4 (PISW) - C26-2 (PISW) Always Below 1 Ω
      V1-4 (PISW) or C26-2 (PISW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   15 

  9. INSPECT CHARGING PORT OPENING LID LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the charging port opening lid lock sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2 .
    2. Inspect the charging port opening lid lock sub-assembly. Refer to INSPECTION - Step 1 .

    NG → See step   16 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHARGING PORT OPENING LID LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the charging port opening lid lock sub-assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      O2-1 (B) - Body ground Power switch off 11 to 14 V

      (to Charging Port Opening Lid Lock Sub-assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHARGING PORT OPENING LID LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY - SPOT LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O1 spot light assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O2-2 (E) - O1-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      O2-2 (E) or O1-1 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. INSPECT SPOT LIGHT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spot light assembly. Refer to REMOVAL - Step 2 .
    2. Inspect the spot light assembly. Refer to INSPECTION - Step 1 .

    NG → See step   17 

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPOT LIGHT ASSEMBLY - PLUGIN CHARGE CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the C26 plugin charge control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O1-2 (E) - C26-29 (LDLP) Always Below 1 Ω
      O1-2 (E) or C26-29 (LDLP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   15 

  14. GO TO PLUG-IN CHARGE CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  15. REPLACE PLUGIN CHARGE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  16. REPLACE CHARGING PORT OPENING LID LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY - Step 5 
  17. REPLACE SPOT LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
